FORMULA 1 DRIVERS FLY HIGH IN PUTRAJAYA’S WATERSKI & WAKEBOARD CENTRE

Last week, we had Malaysia’s former F1 Driver Alex Yoong get back on the water once again at the famous Putrajaya Waterski & Wakeboard Centre jumping the ramp. Yesterday we had HRT Formula 1 Team Hispania’s drivers, Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok, wakeboarding and enjoying themselves taking flights on the tube in the pristine waters of Putrajaya.

Brazilian Bruno Senna is the son of Ayrton’s sister Viviane. Back in 1983, Ayrton was interviewed after a Go-Kart Race and he made the following statement ” If you think I’m fast, just wait till you see my nephew Bruno”.

Well now we will have a chance to see if a new mega star has arrived in F1. Bruno had an outstanding career in both F3 and GP2 – and even succeeded in walking away from a 150mph crash last year. Having just joined the Hispania F1 Team and with both the Bahrain and Melbourne Grand Prix out of the way, his time may now have arrived on the biggest stage in the world. His F1 career will be followed by all who remember the stunning achievements of his uncle Ayrton.

Karun Chandhok became only the second man from India to be a Formula 1 driver when the team made a late announcement last January. He has gone on to finish his first Formula 1 race last weekend in Melbourne.

Both the drivers with a huge group of international and local media in tow thoroughly enjoyed themselves wakeboarding under the guidance of Malaysia’s triple national waterski record holder, Phillipa Yoong, who is the centre’s head coach and the sister of Alex Yoong.

The Putrajaya Waterski & Wakeboard Centre is open from 9am to 6pm everyday except Monday which is a rest day on prior booking basis. For those interested to participate in the activities please book at 012-272 1948 or via email at hanifah@waterski.com.my .  The centre is located at the Maritime Centre in Presint 6 in Putrajaya.
